Earlier today at the Game Tools & Middleware Forum 2011 event in Tokyo, Sony previewed a demo of the Face Recognition technology that is to come with the PlayStation Vita.
In the brief demonstration, a simple video chat was shown between two users allowing them to communicate with their avatars by using the face recognition technology on the PS Vita. You can check out the video here after the break.

Sony also flaunted off the augmented reality technology on the device in which a dinosaur drawn on a paper was converted into 3D and then displayed on your screen. A crude demo but very impressive.

Wee just cannot wait for the PlayStation Vita to hit the market. Sony has confirmed that they plan to ship consoles internationally by the end of this year. However the UK release might be delayed until early 2012.
Also announced at the Game Tools & Middleware Forum 2011 event was the PSP Engine.
