I LIKE the PlayStation brand
can people stop chocolateting all over it for the feature people are naively trying to say wouldn't be used for piracy.
i wasn't bloody born yesterday.
god is 2011 the year of the "Nerdy Butthurt Olympics" or something?
If Sony does pull out of gaming because of these fags there will be hell to pay.
I'm NOT getting an Xbox. >_>
If Sony didn't have legal right to do what they're doing they wouldn't be able to do it. Just because some nerdy people got butthurt is no reason to take down a whole company >_>
I also like the PlayStation brand. The only other console I have ever owned from a different company was a Sega Genesis. Other than that, I've had a PSone, PS2, and now a PS3.
The majority of my games are Sony PSone, PS2, and PS3 games. Yeah, I have Nintendo Handhelds, but the only games I own for them are Pokemon games :P
I don't have many PSP games, but I do like watching videos, and playing MP3s on it. I hate that people are trying so hard to ruin Sony over something petty.
Also, if PSN does get hacked again, there's no guarantee that there's going to be another Welcome Back package. That was only offered because people's information was compromised :/
I just bought the Silent hill 2 bubble head nurse costume for PlayStation Home, I would like to play with her ALL DAY LOOONG >: |

LMFAO

How does one go to jail for this? Has this somehow been declared a criminal case?
I'd like to see the source as well.
Personally am all for this guy - he does nothing to hurt the gamer and doesn't deserve anywhere near the hate he's getting from some misinformed individuals.
Then again, Sony's corporate greed is typical of a company like Sony. Already shown they don't give a flying f*ck about customer security in the recent hackings (thanks to the group who made everyone aware of that) and possibly also how bullchocolate the PCI certification that Sony would've had to be compliant with, is.
it is already a crimimal case, some guys already got caught.
man, kids these days. think they are hero too easily
What law would it fall under though? Copyright infringement laws?
I wouldn't consider this guy to be a kid. It's definitely
not easy to reverse engineer a hypervisor, plus takes a heckload of effort to do (think many months/years of work and dedication). It's not like some script kiddie with basic programming knowledge can do this. I'm sick of people thinking that hackers spend months on end of their time "so they can pirate a game". These guys love what they do (modding) and have a dedication to it. It's no different from some geek spending ages working on some new mathematical theory. It may not interest the casual person, but that doesn't mean they can be freely shot down by some company who thinks their maths theory is better, or perhaps some greedy corporations who think their business will crash and burn because some scientist pointed out their products cause serious health problems.
Anyway, source:

Quote:UPDATE from Dukio: Sony forced us to remove everything or graf_chokolo will going to jail. Wee can only get the donation page up for the time being.
No, he's not going to jail. He's just been ordered to remove content which Sony is not happy with (like they did with Geohot). Of course, if you go against a court order, it becomes a criminal case.
i see.
geohot wasn't that old so i just assumed.
He was about 23 I think? No, not old, and I don't know the age of this person, but 23 is still not a kid.
This sort of exploitation, nonetheless, takes a heckload of effort to pull off. I do think some of the motivation is for publicity, but there's probably easier ways to get your name out than spend months pouring over hard-to-decipher assembler code.
If you're gonna attack someone, YOU DON'T TELL THEM YOU'RE GONNA DO IT.
