I remember almost drowning when I was 6 years old because I didn't know how to swim, but after that experience, I atleast learned how to float, then eventually swim.

Also, I think your friend is a jerk for pushing you into a pool, knowing that you can't swim.  I don't think that's the least bit funny >_>

Glad you're still here though :D
50%?

Whered you get that statistic? 36% of Americans can't swim.

50% of kids can't swim
36% adults can't swim

Quote:University of Memphis study found that about half of American children can't make it out of the shallow end, Slate reports.
that's a really really depressing statistic
RESPECT @SHADY

As a child my dad asked my uncle to look after me when wee were at a beach and then they were talking (perhaps dad was going to go pick something up or whatever) and then before they knew it I was in the sea drowning, my uncle ran in and saved me.

I ended up downing another time near the pier where my dad had to save me.

I was in a pool in a floaty when my cousin jumped and landed on top of me and then I got stuck and almost died because of him.

[some swimming lessons for about 3 years or so]

[a few years later after quitting swim club]

My friend dragged me into the deep end of the pool at one point, where I proceeded to drown him in order for me to float lol, lifeguard saved us.

eXx1l3d from pool

I don't think anything happened after that.

: >

Anyways I CAN swim, which I seamed to have figured out how to do after that last incident, at hotels on vacations.

It's easier to swim underwater than anything, so I spend most of my time underwater when I do, since I don't know how to do that weird float that people do without looking like a tard and getting tired really fast.
That sucks for you Stormage and your friend's a jerk

Luckily I learn how to swim at a young age when I was living in Mexico.
My grandfather saw that I kept trowing myself in the deep end imitating my older relatives, so he taught me how to swim.
He would grab me by my hands and just have me kicking for a while than after a few hours he taught me how to stroke my hands. Then he had me trying to swim from 1 relative to another and a few days later I was swimming freestyle.
Maybe this was your friend's way of motivating you to learn to swim.

You're......not alone >.< though i can do a bit of swimming, but I'd be hopeless trying to swim away from a giant sharp teeth bearing turtle doing 0.1knots
