well if you have been using a pin to short it then you could get away with soldering it in the short term.
just be very carefull if you do this.
the instructions i have seen about the way the screen is attached mentions clips up either side of the screen which you open with a razor blade carfully prizing it out. however if you prize the wrong part you will shatter your screen. ill say it again - just be damned carefull. good luck.

o man are you gonna have a good time getting the psp apart. :/ you need to strip it down to the main board. forget getting a replacement - the switch is on the psp mainboard. you can replace the switch itself but i would ask myself is it worth it?
