I recently bought an HTC Hero (Sprint version) from a friend of mine, and I managed to root it. I installed cyanogenmod and used that for a while, and I'm now currently using aoscpmod. My question is what would be the best (stable) ROM out there at the moment. I really like that both cyanogenmod and aoscpmod are based off of gingerbread which IMO looks better than the version that comes with the sprint Hero, but I would be willing to try out another ROM based off another version of android that you'll think is better.
I'm good with aoscp + launcher pro at the moment but I'd like to see what other users are running on their device and try them out.

darn i was going to say MIUI but for some reason your phone is not supported.
I would stick with cyanogen and get a root app killer so you can cut some fat off the system apps that way it will run faster.
Actually I prefer aoscpMod over cyanogen seeing how my battery lasts longer. On cyanogen my battery would die out before 5 pm with aoscp I still have 1/4 battery left and it's 7 pm already :]
I'll look into the app kiler though, miui looks nice by the way.. I didn't even know about that ROM which is why I'm hoping for other peoples opinion, maybe there's a faster cleaner ROM out there?
My friend bought an HTC desire HD, and he is preety impressed with it.
I believe HTC phones with "HTC Sence" are awesome:)
Fresh 2.0
CyanogenMOD
DamageCONTROL
Those are best, but fresh 2.0 is my favorite, all 3 have live wallpaper support, cyanogenmod removes flash (for web browser) but has JIT! enabler, damagecontrol also has JIT! but you have to disable htc sense to use it, annoyingly, fresh 2.0 doesn't have superuser, it has some weird equivalent, so i recommend updating that to superuser 3.0. on cyanogenmod, you have to install a weird .zip file in order to get android market, web browser, etc. Fresh 2.0 has a different style dock (Which i prefer, actually) JIT! will work if you use a different launcher as your home-screen (launcherpro, androidmate {my fave}, helix launcher, openhome, pandahome, etc.)
I only know this cause i used to have the exact same phone, message me if you need more info
EDIT: and by the way, cyanogenmod is actually based off of froyo
thanks.. Imma try damageCONTROL and see how well that works out, fresh 2.0 doesn't really appeal to me, the whole glossy notifaction bar/icons aren't really my style. :/
Once again I didn't know these ROM's existed they seem to have been buried in the xda forums
There's a large mass of ROMs. They're pretty easy to make actually...I've never used an HTC ROM before though so I can't say.
