Hi!

I have one question. Can someone make app like RCOeditor for PS3? I know RCOmage can dump PS3 files but i need something for fast editing (text strings, 1 or 2 images).

would be a nice idea, however i will definitely not recommend any sort of rco modification unless you have an extensive knowledge of psp rco files and script generating and
that you're prepared to lose your ps3.

it is unstable to edit the rco's with the current means wee have around.
rcomage can do a lot but even with that, edited craphics are unstable and tend to corrupt more than work, and the files themselves are prone to breaking way easier than psp's

for example, removing a shadow from an icon on psp's rco xml simply makes the icon's shadow vanish, but doing the same for ps3 bricks the ps3

just a fair warning to those who aren't as lucky as i am to have a dedicated junk machine to tinker with.

I known a risk of editing PS3 RCO files, but i only want to change some text strings and replace some images (ex. red PSS icons). RCOmage is dumping RCO files and it's very uncomfortable for me. I want something what can easiely and fast extract/edit/replace image/text string.

Maybe Zinga_Burga will join RCOeditor to the new release of RCOmage...

RCO Editor won't be updated (at least by me; I'm doubting anyone else would do it).
Rcomage was meant to be a replacement, but it does seem a number of people feel more comfortable not editing XML code.  It was somewhat designed so that applications can interact with it better, so maybe if someone writes a nicer interface...

There any specific cmd option in rcomage.exe, that allows to extract only the files "lang.xml?

have you found a way yet i have been working on this and i find that i can change and do everything that i want OTHER THEN putting in my own pic it just leaves white boxes or nothing shows at all and as far as bricking the ps3 i find that hard to believe with all the things that i have messed up on and changed  the system just freezes and i just reload the original RCO file if i can if not i go into recovery mode and reinstall the PUP

hhmm ok thanks i am going to read up on this some more i have found some intresting things going on i can decompile and recompile with out changeing anything and it works find but if i put in my own pic i get NOTHING i mean nothing all the icons vanish but however if i save the image as i download it as .gim eveything but that one image shows up i still have a few ideas left to try but my head is killing me right now i will post what i find 2morrow

ok so i am digging and digging into RCO's changing a little of this and a little of that reinstalled FW ALOT not finding much  but has anyone seen anything like this
i lol'ed when i seen this never seen it on the system before but its in the videoediter_plugin.rco but then again i don't use the ps3 video edit poo poo



edit:Ok so i got it to somewhat work i got my change to show up so i now have anew play button in media player but the prob is all the other button are gone a little more tinkering and i should have it but for now bed   thanks ZiNgA BuRgA that post helped
