Sony Japan has confirmed its digital-only handheld, the PSPgo, is going out of production, as was strongly rumoured yesterday.

The Japanese platform holder told website AV Watch that new PSPgo units will no longer be manufactured or shipped "in order to concentrate on the NGP". The remaining PSPgo stock will continue to be sold until it's gone.

A Sony spokesperson said: "It will continue to be sold, and wee will keep focusing our attention on it from here on out."

The UMD-less PSP went on sale in late 2009. Last year Sony slashed the price of the portable.

As pointed out by Kotaku, Sony is likely to continue supporting the device, much like it did with PS2 even after the PS3 went on sale.

no more PSP go
gonna be an antique someday with the amount of it available xD better take care of mine.
Good riddance.
An overdue death for a (frankly) very sub-par console.
Hopefully the NGP will actually make steps forward in design and content.
PSP 3000 will be kept until the NGP is ready, by the way, so the Classic won in the end.
I reckon 3000 will continue for a small period of time after NGP is released. This is probably most likely to happen in Japan.

PSP is kind of dead in the water in the UK ;_;
Bye PSP Go. and now wee wait for the NGP
shortest production span ever?
