Well basically I just wanted to know if anyone knew an easy way of going from XP to 7 on my PC without having to redo programs, settings etc etc you know the drill.

Basically a pretty sucky virus screwed up my bootsector so thought i may as well go to 7 now.
You can save quite a few programs by moving over the AppData from XP to 7 but there are some that are simply too complex to just move over (Photoshop, for example).
Go through all your programs and decide which ones you really don't want to have to reinstall.
alright, how do i go about that?
i think the fastest and best way will be a clean install,.. the clean install is already fast and even with re-installing the programs it will be the easiest,.. knowing not to run into any trouble,.. going for the most easiest way,. Blur

i useally do clean install and when i need a program i will install it,.. not having to install everything right after the win7 install,. (but i only installed windows 7 once now,.)

I THINK this is how it is, I've not used XP in so long I can't really remember...

Documents and Settings\Pyro\Local Settings\ --» Users\Pyro\AppData\Local

Documents and Settings\Pyro\Application Data\ --» Users\Pyro\AppData\Roaming

Regardless, just make sure you back up everything before doing anything. (That's your important documents, Application Data, etc.)
hmm seems complicated, so what do i just copy those over to my new install?

Yes. I just thought though, this will only work if you install the applications again - as it'll only then see where the AppData is stored on 7.

Really depends on what programs you're concerned about.
If you're going Win7 32-bit, an upgrade probably works, though you may lose some stuff.
