I'm struggling to chose between the Manga version and the Novel version. I'm ordering off Waterstone and apart from the 1st volume of the Novel, the rest have the manga covers rather than the real life version of Holo (I prefer the 2d holo) shown on the site, but I'm not sure if they have been sold out as they were apparently first press :/ But I'm guessing with the Novels you're getting more of the story as Manga translations can be a bit hard to understand for me, like some of the phrases don't sort of mix and stuff like that. But I do like looking at the art. Has anyone got either versions? It would be great to get your views on this :3
this was an issue I came across as well... picking between the two. I couldn't choose.
I would usually go for the original - which in this case would be the Light Novel, which of course just finished it's long run just this February (16 Volumes!) but as detailed in this Amazon page -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0759531048/ - it apparently wasn't translated well :( - but this is contradicted to some extent by the Americans reviews -

Lets say there were no issues with either version - which medium are you more comfortable reading? That should be your answer, and maybe you can try the other version some other time.
Edit: or you could watch the anime again because it's most certainly good enough to warrant it! :D
Hmmm thanks Sensei, I only have Second season on disc (think it's bootleg too), need to find first season and the secret episode Se7en. By light novel you mean the book version right? not the Manga?
Amazon Reviewer Wrote:P.S. YP, fire whoever made that cover. It's terrible. I appreciate what you were trying to do, but forever consigning the book to the C-list fantasy bargain bin is the wrong way to go.
Ditto

Wait you've not seen the anime??
You must see it!
And yes I meant the book, not the manga. I believe Yen Press used the original covers from v.2 onwards, while good, makes it hard to differentiate between the manga volumes!

Think I might go for the Novel and the second volume does have one of those.....stand in covers too, just search the ISDN on google images :P The covers are still different from the Novel and Manga versions, from looking on Waterstone and Amazon.
Yes I've seen the anime, but my memory is weak near the end, suggeting maybe I didn't watch everything.
Placed my order from 3 volumes

Recieved my novels

Finished the first and I must say, aside from a few errors in translation, the novel is fantastic, and they even throw in the original art in too

The next lot of volumes have removable covers with the original Manga style covers fixed to the novel which is thankfully a good choice for Yen Press. Thanks for the help :3
Sweet! Makes me want to check it out too - I wonder if YP will re-issue the first volume with the better cover?
I don't know, volume 4 hasn't been released yet as far as I can see on Amazon, expected 28th June =w=

They must be doing pretty well then if they are continuing publication. That's good to know.
