So, let's say you don't/can't download illegal material off the internet. Do you really think that you'll need the speed of your current connection? How much do you think you'd download a month?
mmm... i wnt need an internet connection if i don't/can't download illegal material off the internet!! :P
i don't need internet if i can't download illegal files... lolz
to answer truthfuly, i wouldnt need my current speed, i would still like to have a fast speed as loading websites on dial up is a pain in the donkey. but i wouldnt NEED the packcage i have at the moment.
maybe 200mb Per Week at max, because i download "The Chaser's war on everything" vodcast (80-90MB) because i can't watch it while watching Heroes :P (only aussies will know of "the chaser's war on everything")
and i also download another 25MB podcast. then there might be the occasional software update i.e. Mozilla Firefox etc or just downloading certain Freeware that i might have just heard of.
so that totals to around to 600MB, maybe :D
hmm
i guess maybe id want ISDN speed or somet
i would still pay for my beefy connection, and if something faster came available, i would probably want to upgrade. i think its more about the principal of the thing than anything else.
that and if im playing games online, and spoon starts fudgeing up, i know its not on my end
I'll have something like my current connection if i can't downloa illegal stuff. Even dialup is fine.
Note that my current connection is rather bad, compared to most of urs. 256down/64up, 10gb cap/month. BUT i seriously don't think i will need any more for just websites and downloading a small amount of legal stuff.
I estimate that 97% of my internet usage is downloading illegal stuff. This percentage would be way higher, like 99.7%, if i had a faster internet connection.
Yeah, I would say that need my current connection speed. I download podcasts, and non-copyrighted anime and huge game demos/betas.
I also play City of Heroes, counter strike source, UT2k4, and many other games that require quick response times. and lots of bandwidth.
I have a 3MB cable line, and I suppose I could live with something like a 1.5MB line for that stuff. But I do need high speed. I could never go back to dial up.
But I suppose it all depends on your definition of need. no one really "needs" the internet unless you work from home ;)
