But think of it this way:
If you're trying to squeeze stuff into a short sentence that everyone understands, which is shorter?
"Gun killed her"
"Someone, using a gun, killed her"
Most people would comprehend both to be the same (without being picky).
By using the first sentence, wee clearly save ink on the newspapers, as well as news reporters' breaths. Clearly this is a good thing... I think.
