Now I have to go buy a new one. Glad I have the iPad to keep me entertained while dd does it's stuff
Its not that bad (Psh, yes it is, im glad im not you) really, you can always attatch the ipad to your computer (Right?)
Yup. Off to spend $90 on a new hard drive, then spend countless hours copying my installations over :/

I bet that if you call the company's customer support line, and even thought you know that its wrong, yell at them for faulty machinery and demand a refund ^-^
kung fffffffuuuuuu mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. It totally blows. D:
That sucks D:
man that sucks donkey

get a new one sooner rather than later

im sure you know that ofc, and get a good and quick drive, 7200RPM+
If it's not dead yet, you need to hope it doesn't die whilst you clone the drive.

RAID1 For the win for basic protection against failures, especially now that HDDs are relatively cheap.
RAID in a laptop?

And I'm dd'ing the drives with my trusty 3 year old gparted live cd. It's scratched to all he'll, and still works beautifully. I named it ol' faithful.

I started the dd when i left for work, and i got home, and it had only copied 4gb after 8 hours. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

This could take a while.
