More previews of the Blackberry Playbook tablet due to be released soon have been posted during CES. The 7" Playbook features a dual-core 1Ghz ARM processor, probably similar to the popular Tegra 2, 1GB of RAM, and runs on it's own new OS which looks surprisingly well made so far.
This tablet may be small, but it's got a 1024x600 touchscreen and is capable of running Quake 3, 1080P video, Excel spreadsheets and a lot of other jazz, at the same time. The browser also runs very smooth, zooming and scrolling almost without any lag which is quite an achievement compared to many tablets. The POSIX-compliant OS supports OpenGL, Webkit, Flash and Adobe AIR among others. It has 2 high-resolution cameras and features HDMI and USB ports.
Unfortunately price and release date aren't announced yet, but it should be soon. Hopefully it will not only be able to compete with the similarly 7" Galaxy Tab, but also with the heaps of other 10" tablets coming out over the next months. Here's the official site, click the pic for an article with a nice video.
