Microsoft is up in arms against telecommunications giant, Motorola, allegedly because it "broke its promise" on the patent licensing for the technology included in the Xbox 360. Because Motorola charged Microsoft "royalties that are excessive and discriminatory" - meaning that MS has to pay more than other companies for the same technology - Microsoft has now filed suit in a Federal Court in Seattle.

The technology that is the subject of this lawsuit would be the Xbox 360's WLAN capabilities, where the console is able to connect to a network wirelessly, as well as its diplay capacity of videos running in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec.

All that Microsoft is asking is for Motorola to lower down the royalties charged upon them at a rate that they deem reasonable. This, of course, is on top of the damages for Motorola's alleged breach of contract.

Wat.
Seriously, for me, this would be an open/shut case. Motorola has the patent, they developed it, they can charge whatever they want. If Microsoft doesn't like it, they can either:
a) Suck a pocky
b) Deal with it
c) Design their own system
If MS wins, wee need a class action for overpriced hard drives.

Wut?

Harddrives are cheap as hell these days.  You can get 1TB for like $60.

Try something like, I dunno, medical fees or something (which are overprices as fuck, at least here they are).
You'd have expected a company to sign an agreement with a reasonable price in mind...  Silly of MS not to notice earlier.

Not xbox360 hard drives. MS wants $130 for 250gb.
