Actually, that's pretty damn horrible.  You should easily be able to achieve at least 10000 with copy and paste.

Congratulations! You made no mistakes, practice does make perfect.

Ten weeks before he died, Mr Mohun Biswas, a journalist of Sikkim Street, St James, Port of Spain, was sacked. He had been ill for some time. In less than a year he had spent more than nine weeks at the Colonial Hospital and convalesced at home for even longer. When the doctor advised him to take a complete rest the Trinidad Sentinel had no choice. It gave Mr Biswas three months' notice and continued, up to the time of his death, to supply him every morning with a free copy of the paper.

Unaware of how you do 10000 I stopped the timer almost instantly after I pressed Ctrl+V.

1. You can have the text already copied before you actually start the test, so you only need to paste once it starts.

2. Clicking the start button automatically selects the response box for you, so all you need to do is press ctrl+v.  You don't need to move your mouse down into the box and click it before pasting.

If you're already doing both of the above correctly... then I don't see how you can't do it.

I managed to pull 25000+ once.  That's pretty hard though, need to make it so that the ctrl+v hand hits the keys right after the other hand clicks the button, so both hands sort of need to start moving at the same time... or something like that.  And the clicking hand shouldn't need to wait for the other hand to ctrl+v.  So pretty much get the 2 clicks as quick as possible, and squeeze the ctrl+v between.

They need to add some logic the script to filter out unrealistic results.  I mean no human can possibly type faster than lets say 300wpm, so anything above should just get you a result of something like "you're a cheating wanker".

EDIT: new faster result, 37000.
Yeah, it's quite slow to highlight the whole thing. Press control C then paste it into the text box while making sure that the text "type here" doesn't remain then click stop the clock.
