Same here.
Wow!  This was to be expected :(. Sorny's only way to fix security holes is remove the means of exploit and hurt everyone rather than just fix the codes.

Ps3 firmware 4.0 confirmed to remove GameOS....there...no piracy on PS3 eer again...unless you pay $20/month for "PSN+4Gaming Service". But it adds in xmb search for Bing.
This isn't surprising it was expected happen...
honestly what did you think Sony would do?
Like Schmilk said "Sony's only way to fix security holes is remove the means of exploit"
It does suck, but all there doing is trying to protect there product (That kinda sounds like a Sony statement lol)
However I don't think it's right there saying "Exploding Peripherals", they could just tell us the truth & I would understand...
hackers are their undoing

if they just left it alone none of this would have ever happened.

id rather Sony stop people properly than be half-arsed about it.

i don't blame Sony for not wanting another PSP-level hacking scene.

You say that, but lets be honest, how many of us here have USB-based 3rd party peripherals?

(Other than the fact USB flash-drives may not be working anymore?)

Flash Drives, external HDDs, a cool third party controller adapter that I had (usb based).
I did actually use the usb ports...

C'mon - how many people actually used geohot's Other OS expliot, or jail broke their PS3 ?
A very small fraction.

Yet millions of PS3 owners continue to have features stripped from their consoles.
$ony is just ridiculous...   Erk
You can't blame hackers for this.  Hacking, in this sense, is about giving end users choice and Sony doesn't like that.  Blocking stuff is sorely their responsibility and their problem.
It's as if Windows would automatically detect if you had Linux installed, and if you did, started wiping all your data.  Linux would hardly to blame here.
Flash Drives work T_T
Your right ZiNgA, I don't blame the hackers.
I blame this soley on $ONY themselves, as this is a completely unacceptable way to deal with the hackers.

It's like Schmilk said, instead of fixing their own OS to block/prevent these exploits, they just remove features from their console.    :/
