i also went into an import foods shop while i was there and got a mother-load of pocky
oh and the thing on top is an official PSP tin of candy

Trust me those XBOX things never last that long I've had friends that have had to have like 7 brand new XBOX's that were lost to the RROD and they have kept their 1st PS3 from the 1st day they bought it without any YLOD, RLOD, etc;.

Nice, you got your sexy PS3 working again.
What was wrong with it? Any clue what they did to fix it? Seems a bit much, but then again you had no shipping costs.
I would've fixed it for free, but shipping would be expensive. :'(
it was the problem of the lead-free solder they use in the system to comply with "safety".
it oxidises easier than lead solder, especially when hot.
this caused a GPU connection to break, and it died. causing YLOD.
