Why a psp with OFW6.xx is faster than a OFW5.xx?
I have 2 psps One OFW6.20 AND one CFW 5.00M33-6
THE 6.20 LOAD THE GAME ICONS AND PREVIEWS UNDER GAME SELECTION MORE FASTER THAN THE 5.00M33-6 WITHOUT ANY PLUGIN, both of then with the same MS and default clock. i also tried to put 5.xx to 333mhz but the same thing happened
the 6.xx when you scrool up and down the preview icon is already loaded and de 5.xx takes a little load time to show it and when u scroon up or down it neddes to load again and de 6.xx don need
why?
I don't have any experience in PSP, but I think 6.xx caches the images to memory card to load faster and maybe 5.xx doesn't support that?
There's any way to make it for 5.xx?
It also depends on what model of PSP you have I think.

i have 2 1000s and one 3000
i notice that icons are already loaded on the 3000 model. while the 1000s (see sig for Firmware specs) take a few seconds to load.
Since the same memory stick, I assume there's no extra baggage, like ISOs? (which mean that the 5.xx firmware has to scan for ISOs/CSOs whereas the 6.xx firmware doesn't)
To be honest i haven't noticed anything, my 1000 takes a few secs to turn on and load everything up but that's mainly due to plugins. My slim is currently on 6.31 because i had some LBP stuff to dl from the store. Ive noticed in the later 6.xx updates they changed it so the LEDs don't blink when its online, so you can't tell when its communicating or dl'ing stuff.
Regarding the speed thing of 6.xx i suppose your right, when i turn it on and after the game boot the icons are there instantly. Not much of a big deal for me though, i don't mind about these things.
No surprise there. Sony did a major code cleanup in the 6.xx series which now makes it a lot harder to exploit. They learned a thing or two from 5.03.
Also, the bigger the memory stick is the longer the access times are. Right now 32 GB is the biggest ms around, which would make it the slowest. Defrag your ms. If it's a 2 GB, format it as FAT not FAT32 because FAT32 works better with small files (mp3, jpg, save games, etc) while FAT works better for large files (ISOs, movies, etc).
Install fatmsmod then try again,you'll see it will be much faster if you have a fake stick
