the fudgeing asshole who was supposed to fix my hard disk hasn't yet fixed it after 2 month
and he has given me a 40gb hard disk till he fixes it. 10gb of this fudgeing 40gb hard disk has a fudgeing widows XP on it. does any one know how to delete it without formatting the drive. it says you need permission and I've searched every where but I can't find a way to delete it!
boot into a Linux Live CD/USB. ;D
what is that and how do you do that
oh and by the way I hope you got it right, I have another hard disk which I am using and I have windows 7 on it so I just want to delete this XP folder to have some more space
Any installation disk will work you just need the formatting tool that they provide. Just reformat that part you don't want. Ubuntu is nice though because its smaller disk size and its livedisk is awesome. And if you only have 40gb of space then go ahead and install ubuntu.

I was just saying boot into a Ubuntu Live CD, and delete the folder.
@bloodangel: download Unet Bootin, and use a 2BG+ flash drive

It might be stopping you because the files are locked, and for good reason...

hes using win7 and he wants to use the extra 10gb being used by the Xp ?
Backup the data you wish to keep. Format the disk. Install whatever the hell you want. Restore your data. Profit.

If it has windows in it then it must be a partition. It wouldn't be a file. That's why a reformatting tool must be used.

If he's not actually using the OS, it shouldn't be locked. Though thinking about it, it could be an ACL conflict, in which case, taking ownership of the files may work.
Though if it's his install of Windows...
