it would cost an extra $100 for a 2TB 2.5 SATA, not to mention the work id have to put in to install and repartition a new hard drive in my laptop, its not worth it.

mine is a lego brick (500gb) and i have over half left of it. (computer still has half the memory left as well)

If your computer supports eSATA (or USB3), you can pretty much get the same speed as internal.
Which is why I chose to go external, also because I don't always use the same computer.
