...seem to be a bit of a fad with many tech devices made in the past few years or something. Sure,
they're relatively new, but do you think it's a bit overdone?
For me:
- USB memory stick indicator is blue
- All case power/HDD indicator LEDs are blue
- Motherboard has several blue indicator LEDs (some red/yellow/green used for the power indicator it has, but blue used for everything else)
- My new speaker has a blue power LED
Have had plenty of other devices with blue LEDs (outnumber those with other colours).
Do you have many blue LED devices?
my wii remote has them
my laptop has no joke like 20 (i can take a pic if you don't believe me)
my bluetooth headset has one
im sure theirs more just can't think of any
i have a big bag of green LED's around here somewhere from when i got the urge to put them in my psp
i had blue LEDs ready for soldering into my old PSP, but then i lost them.
they are overdone, but they are also cool.
and blue LEDs require no resistor to be wired in when using them on a PSP.
when you put them on the 3.6V coming off of the power board, that is.
I think its because of how new they are. LED's in general have been around since the 80's and before but not blue ones. People have always wanted blue LED's but couldn't get them until recently. Now that they can have them they want a lot of them to make up for the time without.
Or something like that.
Yeah they may look nice but they drink electricity compared to normal led's.

really?
i found 0603 or 1206 Surface Mount LEDs require less power than red or green ones.
mmmmmmmmmmm
I have a stereo surround system where all the lighting is done with blue LEDs
I like blue LEDs but they really aren't worth the increase in price to me
My computer and the power switch on my guitar amplifier has blue LEDs.
the case i have on my PC
drowning in blue LEDs as standard.
i love it xD
Only 1 small blue LED on my PC, which is the power on/off light. There's one inside my mouse, and another one inside my external HDD.

That would piss me off no end.
But then again, you have it on the ground, so it's probably alright. I have my box right next to me on the table, and the lights would probably shine into my face and onto the monitor.
To be honest, I'd probably prefer red LEDs.
