I've been looking to get a newer better PC since the one I have now just doesn't cut it. This is what I have so far. Many thanks to Boogs for helping me out :D <3

This will be primarily used for gaming. Lots of gaming. Budget at the moment is from 1,000 to 1,500USD.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Complaints? Compliments?
i5 3550 doesn't overclock (well, you can change BCLK but not recommended), so it's rather pointless getting a Z77 motherboard and CPU cooler for it.
PSU seems overkill.
Rest seems okay.  I personally went for the Z77 Extreme4 over the Pro4 - slightly more expensive but a noticeably better board.  Unsure how good value the GTX670 is.
hey thanks zinga
lol forgot about the PSU .. originally had a 3570K and an H100 there but eku said he won't be overclocking anyway :))

should probably change that to a good 400-450watt PSU ?
sooo.. since no overclocking, Z75 over Z77?

z75 and even h77 support unlocked cpu's lol , difference is no SSD caching for the Z75 and no 3 GPU support
so i suppose a Z75 would be alright

also.. i got him an h40 since idk if the stock HSF will be enough to cool the CPU when gaming

(mine goes up to 80-90C in games @ stock clocks ... sandybridge though.. but still )

thanks zinga :D

i still don't like the fact your getting an asrock board, they always seem like the low budget option go fore an msi/gigabyte/asus of that's a slightly pricier version.
I'd get an AMD processor if I were you. They are cheaper than Intel mostly, and you can get AMD Phenom X6, a 6-core CPU at 3.2 GHz for around 180$.

That should be enough.

Z75 is pretty much an abandoned platform.  Consider H77 or B75.

The CPU/HSF would be considered defective if the stock HSF can't keep the CPU cool enough - keeping it cool is not an issue.  If you're overclocking, or want a quiet fan, that's another story.

That's definitely unusual - make sure the HSF is installed properly.

My 3570K using a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ EVO runs at around 38C idle, up to like 55-60C on full load @ 3.6GHz.  Then again, I haven't tested much and set the target temperature to be 55C - there's probably more headroom to go.  Most people are claiming a fairly solid 4-4.2GHz overclock on the cooler I have.

Asrock are ASUS' budget brand I believe.  Pretty solid motherboards from what I've heard.  From my experience of a single motherboard, they tend to skimp on extras, and the pamphlets they include are written in Engrish, but you generally don't need them anyway.

Lol, that's like two completely opposite suggestions.

My personal preference is probably like:

Add in case of choice and the GTX670 (they're all pretty much the same, so your choice on that) and total of $1094.92
@Zinga I know lol, but still.
Bye
Come back soon :(
