Endless Paradigm

Thanks Cowper! I guess my previous 4.1 and 5.1 surround sound setups have just had a "receiver" built into the subwoofers, as I have only seen such a receiver as that in other instances, such as at a condo, or in my father's office, or our living room. However, they have always been connected to an antenna or have had a CD player or the like as part of it, so I always assumed it was, literally, an entertainment center.  So, if I were to only want the speakers and subwoofer, without wanting what is, as I understand it, a glorified radio, what, specifically, would I look for in the description/specs? If it just says it comes with like 5 satellites (speakers) and a subwoofer, then should I assume that it will not require anything else other than a TV? I had read in the reviews of one of my potential buys that it required a separate receiver and this was when I started getting confused.

Just throwin this out there.. I have a altec lansing speaker system for my tv and it almost blows out my windows in my room.. ha.only payed like 300 too :]

I just finished setting up my speakers today!! :O

My former dad used to be a singer and he had a dj setup in the basement with subwoofers and speakers(only thing i wanted), not sure why he left it there I thought he would have taken it considering it costed around 5k. :\

It also has all that technical...equalizer thingiess~..? Also it's a sony so +1??

I never really appreciated sound till today!! <333

I had bad luck with altec lansing, the sub went on 2 sets. They sounded good, but I will not buy then again.
