I dunno what happened, but my DVD drive just won't open. I rebooted my computer 3 times, unloaded Daemon, but still it won't open! Help!
uhhh not much i can think of to help you with that one........
uuhh idk do you have a cd in the drive?
There's got to be something I can do...
My computer recognizes it, says its working properly, but when I push the button to open it, nothing happens. It just sits there, not opening.
Double postI don't think I do, but I'm trying to find a paperclip to do the pinhole release thing.
Double postOkay, no disc, and it seems like it's just dead. But the weird thing is that my comp still recognizes it. Could the motor for the tray be worn out?
it could be
you could try opening the pc and unpluging and re plug the power cord for the disk tray... whos knows
other then that i really don't know what to tell you.
Try using a software eject.
you might need to go under your computer and right clicking the drive and press eject. it might work. otherwise just force the drive open...
Nope, fixed it. There was a tab that wasn't pressed down all the way, and I'm guessing that the motor got jarred. I pushed it down, and when my computer booted, it clicked itself back into place.
Anyway, thanks a bunch for putting up with me and my computer ineptitude, whether it be about Vista, Linux, my keyboard, or my DVD drive.. You've helped me become a slightly less computer-incompetent person.
