My dad has said yes to idea of a bass guitar because these marks I received were good
what should I be looking for when I go shopping?

I like the ones with long necks is that good or bad?
other than the guitar what else should I buy?

Ibanez is probably your best bet.

Get a tuner, unless you can tune by ear like me

Even though I say that I have a pretty "nice" tuner :3
Just in-case I forget what it sounds like ^^

ok a bass amp is the socket on the side?
or is it those small speakers?

bass guitars generally have a longer neck than guitars anyway, but having an even longer neck does not make much difference, I've only ever found one song i couldnt play because my neck was too short. So the neck is up to you :)

Make sure you research a lot before you buy, to get the one just right for you :D

You'll need:

A Bass Amplifier
Input Cable
Guitar Bag
Guitar Strap
A Tuner
(Optionally) Headphones
(Optionally) Guitar Picks, but you can use your fingers (I do) :D If you do decide t play with a pick, i recommend a small but thick one for bass.

Also if you want, you can get software for your computer to let you play songs you like :) People make the songs up themselves for you to play on this software. It's called Guitar Pro.

just go to a instrument store and say gimme a bass amp.

it's one of those black cubes with a speaker or five in em... :/you don't need a big one...

mines tiny so it's really light :3

my music teacher didn't let me use a pic D:
i couldn't play for too long because my delicate hands hurt after a few seconds... (and since I never practiced, my hands couldn't get used to it lol)
and I had to do stupid donkey concerts and spoon.

i had to replace my base's neck though when i got it :/
