Woah, pretty cool, if only i had an iphone.....
i wonder how file transfer works if you wanted to boot to it as standard.

it'd be annoying if you had to boot to iPhone OS every time you wanted to do file management.
there's some other tools than itunes that can do file management like you browse it as a harddisk

I actually think the other way.  Like, now the iPhone has the benefits of both its platform and the open source platform, there's less reason to buy Android phones...

Android  = Andriod.
Iphone = Iphone + Android.

Superior.  To the consumer that is, can't say what the producers whould make of this.  They could loose sales from the apple store, and some other drawbacks.
