I want a way to lock the laptop or require a login when I shut the lid...

I need background processes running which sleep doesn't allow and for some reason they seem to have taken away stand by...

So I need a way to do this

AND NO
SHUTING THE LID AND SETTING THE SCREEN SAVER TO REQUIRE A PASS ISN'T FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH

got fudgeing damn you get like 3000 threads like that on google It's annoying >.>
go to control panel > power options > on the left side their is a "Choose what closing the lid does" option

try that, im sure you already have though
nevermind, i see what your trying to achieve
yeah I tried that, but there is nothing just Sleep
(sucks)
hybernate and do nothing...
have you looked into hybrid-sleep?

i think with that you can close your lid, your programs will still run and be in sleep mode
so i assume it will require a password to remove from sleep

check it out
