yeah
utorrent is totally complete imho, it even shows you the __country__ of your peers (next to the ip address) xD
but i guess as long as it does what you want and its ok with the main torrent sites (unlike bitcomet e.g.) it doesn't really matter
I use bitlord........................................
cannt be bother to read all the posts.............................
sorry if it been said...............................
my utorrent is great but im downloading bit defender and for some reason its 24.2 mb file and it says 24.2 mb downloaded btut in the eta section it says 1h 34 and goes random times like 45 mins 1h 50 and so on what up with that
you're connecting with a different number of seeds and peers, which effects your download rate, which effects your ETA. it fluctuates during the entirety of downloading the torrent.
I use direct downloads because torrents 'borrow' all of the bandwidth, and with 3 other internet users in my house, it's not good.

The ETA is calculated based on a division of the file size by how fast ur downloading, or a more complex algorithm around these lines. So at the instance ur downloading at lets say 40kb/s ur ETA is 1 hr, when ur downloading at 10kb/s for the same file, ur ETA would be 4 hrs. So as ur download speed varies, so does ur ETA. It's not unexpected.

BitComet is ok with the main torrent sites. Only not ok with some private ones, since it allows u to connect to private trackers when ur not supposed to (which would be a very good thing, if it wasn't blocked).
I use uTorrent, but know other people who use BitComet, and they never had problems before. But they probably don't use private trackers either. Anyway, if like 20% of people out there use BitComet, it can't really be that bad...

Just set a download limit, and upload limit.
IMO direct downloads are more likely to choke other users, since u can't set speed, and it just goes as fast as it can, unless if ur using a download manager, then all's fine.
some download manager can set limits but meh so can most torrent apps so... whatever
i think direct downloads are a lot better than torrents cause torrents can slow down depending on how many pl are getting it but direct download that is not a factor.
....or i just don't know what i am talking about.........
that is true, but usually torrents are fast as well and they can be faster than direct download depending on the torrent.
No, you can't simply say it _will_ be faster because:
1) Your connection has a limit
2) For direct, after your connection, it depends on the server
3) For torrent, it depends on seeds/leechers and their connections.
So basically, it depends on whether you're downloading from a fast server or torrent with many seeds.
