QJ.net Wrote:Homebrew developer brethren dropped by QJ.Net PSP Forum today and informed us about a proof-of-concept application allowing becus25's custom firmwares to be run using DevHook.

The developer added that it would be possible as well to run the said firmwares from the memory stick provided that some part of the codes will be altered. Now, why do you think he did this? As all of you are aware, becus25 has been providing the PSP community with an alternative custom firmware.

brethren believes in this firmware and believes that more people should give it a go. Running becus25's creation from the memory stick, needless to say, will reduce the risk of bricking.

Anyway, brethren shared that what should be done is re-write the code in the "recovery.elf" to alter and access the files in the DevHook folder instead from the flash0 and change the WiFi-up autobooting of DevHook to something like IR Shell.

Custom Firmware for DevHook has its own Readme file so please browse through that first before using the program on your unit.

Some more clarification:
brethren Wrote:lol, qj have made a right mess of this:p  this isn't because's cf its dax's with the loading of because's 2nd recovery (that was as much as i could do without access to because's source code). It just a proof of concept showing because's firmware can be emulated.

because has sent me some updated files so i have a version on my psp that shows 1.62ie-d in system setting and loads the two recoveries. He's changed the flash options of recovery_1 to use the memory card instead but the config options can't be changed  through recovery at the moment (just a matter of time)

be careful though, toggling flash0 in recovery toggles the REAL flash0 not the emulated one. Really i can't believe qj didn't let people know that as i put it in the very first post
