Quote:Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II are on their way to the iPhone and iPod Touch, game maker Square Enix said Wednesday.

"Over 20 years since the original releases, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II are coming to iPhone [and] iPod Touch," the company announced on its Facebook page.

Square Enix didn't divulge much more information, such as when they will be released or if it plans to change the games at all. Still, it has launched a Web site dedicated to the iPhone and iPod Touch versions of the games.

It's a major announcement, especially for iPhone gamers who have found Apple's devices to be viable alternatives to standalone handheld gaming systems. And with these two iconic titles in video game history coming to Apple's App Store, it could make the iPhone and iPod Touch even more appealing to mobile gamers.

Looking at the status bar in the screen shot I can see an MP system meaning it's based off the PSP and GBA versions. More PSP though with it's graphics.
Just, stop it Square, just fucking stop with the damn DoS versions of FF (FFII's was fine though.)
True fans much more prefer the original game mechanics and I'm one of them.
If I was a more depressing person I probably would've an hero by now.

Sweet FF on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Your sexiness level has increased in my eyes.

The difference is though I actually like the DoS version of FFII where instead of changing the mechanics and damage calculations, all it does instead is just makes the power leveling less harsh.
me im still playing nes version of FF1 and FFII, lol

next in line, all squenix franchise in iphone and ipod touch, lol
I'll tell you what...Apple showed up sorny on this one...FF and FFii fro psp were just direct ports of the game with the same pixelated graphics...where as this version on the iphone everything is so smooth!

Although i still don't like the game lol

The psp version wasn't pixelated (the backgrounds, maybe though) The graphics are entirely new and the iPhone reuses the PSP graphics.
Though when I saw people using iPhones at my school the screens look better then my PSP 1000.

Otherwise you're right about being direct ports in terms of game play, they're exactly the same as the GBA ones.

I rather have the game play of NES or PS1 of the original Final Fantasy

If it's the remakes or FFII you don't like I can understand otherwise D:

No its the whole 'sit there and watch your guys die while the enemy is attacking' concept of turn based strategy I don't like...

I can't get enough of it. It's really the OST+Art+Story that gets me into an rpg. The fighting part is a bonus+,
i don't care if they are direct ports or if the graphics are changed or anything. If priced well, they'll be good to have for when I have no access to wifi.
