fudgein Windows keeps making my wallpaper look chocolatety.
It's a PNG, and there are no artifacts in the original image, yet when I set it as the background, there they fudgein' are.
and it's annoying spoon out of me.
Is Windows just a bitch?
look closely around the letters. D:
ah i see mis-colored pixels.
probably converts the image to jpeg and that causes image quality loss

That's what it looks like, jpeg artifacts.
Try setting as wallpaper using a different method?
Yeah, It won't take PNGs, it converts them to wallpaper.JPG.
Save the wallpaper as a maximum quality JPEG or BMP and then apply - it'll look fine.
-Or- you can try SkyDX's method, rename the PNG filetype to JPG and apply. This also works.
save as bmp...then windows won't use html code to set it as the background..
also save the image as the same resolution your monitor is displaying so it doesn't get stretched or shrunk.
