Wassup, bitches? Been a while, eh? I need a bit of computer/console help, and I figure you guys are always good for that, so I'd turn to you in my time of need :B

I'm living in a school apartment as of last Sunday. They have crazy internet security on their networks, because of how close the school is to this place, so that random people can't just leech internet. Because of how complex and crazy said security is, you have to pay the IT guy $30 per device to be set up on your apartment's specific network because he has to do a whole bunch of stuff to basically manually add your computer to the router's whitelist. I got it done on my Macbook Pro, but I don't want to have to pay another $30 to get my PS3 Slim set up. I've heard talk of using a computer as a connection bridge via ethernet, but I don't know how to set it up. Basically, I just want to have a bit of connection to use for downloading PSN stuff and patches and all. I'm not planning on playing some super low latency deathmatches or anything, because expecting that would be stupid. But does anyone know of any utilities for Mac that I could use to siphon connection through the ethernet port to my PS3?

tl;dr - I need to funnel connection from my Mac laptop to my PS3 through an ethernet cable. Anyone know how?
what up school boy bitch

just buy a cheap linksys wrt54g type router and use mac address cloning on the router so the IT guy thinks the router is the mac :)

Otherwise you would need to enable internet connection sharing and would need 2 network cards in your mac to share from one to the other, and from the mac to ps3 you would need  a switch or crossover cable
Chroma Hi!
metalgear08 :>
Hai Chroma! =D

and ya i recommend wat SchmilK said ^_^

buy a used one for even cheaper
Problem with buying a router is that the guy had to whitelist my computer and THEN put a separate password in. I lack that password, so even if I spoofed my MAC ID, I'd still be out of luck.

And Lunar, I will murder you if you call me that again :D

seperate password for what?  did he have to go to a website and create a cookieon your computer?  If so then you will need another network card (easy on desktop, not so easy on laptop) and a switch or a crossover cable.
Glad to hear your doing alright chroma   Madwin
The password was probably the WEP or WPA key, in which case it's probably fairly easy to get hold of, at least in Windows. Windows stores it for each time you connect and doesn't bother encrypting it. There are various tools out there for viewing saved network keys.

Mac however... No idea.

If you can ge hold of the key then Schmilk's idea is the best way to go in my humble opinion.
I did it with my xbox when I didn't have an ethernet cable. but I was using a Windows based laptop not a Mac Erk You need an ethernet crossover cable.
