I always leave it in standby and it's never woken itslef before. As for hackers, It can't be remote because the network card is turned off when it goes into standby. The only thing I can think of is someone physically going up to it and lifting the lid.

My parents have just gotten home. They were at the cinema which explains their phones being off. But, just before they got back I heard the car pulling up outside. I went out to investigate (I didn't know what the noise was at this point.) I went out the back door into the sort-of back porch wee have. The back door is in the kitchen and goes thorugh into the back porch and garage. There's another door then that goes outside. The back porch stank of pee. I went into the garage and there was no smell. Outside by the door there were footprints in the snow that I can't recognise as belonging to any of the shoes that I or any of my family own.

I've talked to my dad about everything that happens and he says he's glad I've noticed strange things as he's noticed a few things too. In the living room some of the cusions on the sofa have been moved and in the kitchen a few other things had been moved. He just assumed it was me...
do those detective tricks.
tell your family don't go into your room, put a piece of paper between the door and the door frame. do the same for drawers. remember to make it not noticable. if someone open it, you will find a piece of paper on the ground instead.

for your comp, keylogger is a good idea

don't walk around while listen to music. or something that block one of your senses. use your gamer instinct damnnit :P

Laying a few "traps" is a good idea. I might set up some kind of motion detecting camera as well.

Also I have no gamer instinct. I don't play games at all.
ima laugh when its your best friend.

If your dad says hes noticed some things lately too, then perhaps you could rig a camera up, either at a choke in your house, or in your room, and check it day to day. If it was only today, then idk. Regardless, I agree a keylogger is a good route to go if video surveillance is outta the picture. At least you can know what was looked up from now on
