Hmm... I could see intimate nights being a little less private with these, not to mention the possible positions vastly limited... "Okay, let's do it slightly more toward the back corner this time" is about the kinkiest it'll get.
I saw this a few years back in Amazing Race. Racers actually spent the night here after a task.

Don't think so, but the above price includes various other things whereas an appartment doesn't.  Also leasing requires downpayments/bonds and I believe you need a co-signer in Japan.
$800 USD here gets a crappy two room apartment :/

Parents own a two bedroom apartment in the city.  Charge like AU$400/week (around AU$1600/mo) rent.
Then again, that's the housing market here.
Wee're renting out 3 rooms downstairs (semi-basement), for around $150 each week (rent is paid weekly here).  So around $600 a month.
