I'm asking this mainly because I'm lazy but is there a way to implement an AJAX refresh system so that it refreshes the posts?

I had no idea that existed but sure.

I've thought about this in the past. Because the F5 key is just so goddamn far away...

What do you exactly mean?  Refresh the showthread page?  Can't use Firefox RefreshEvery plugin?

No, something that refreshes the latest topics. Besides, that addon is used on every site unless you disable it.
