Especially considering the crazy amount of prices going up now.  I am wondering how the hell I'm supposed to get a house when I move out...

It's great when you are looking to sell :D
America is a terrible place to be selling...great for buying.

Tons of bank owned properties for sale dirt cheap.  But the development that I bought my house in which is new construction sold 0 houses in 2009 and still has room for 50 more to build!  They hae a townhouse develoebt also with 3 building and 6 "houses" per building with 0 people living on them!

I don't understand that graph but I wish you luck!  Start pocketing the proffits of ep and get a good down payment :P
Searching for a place is... very unforgiving... but I guess worth it.
Hey Zinga Burga, are you an Aussie?
yeah, its exactly the opposite here. good for buying, bad for selling.

you could move to america lol
Only good for selling if you think prices are going to come down.  If you expect it to continue to rise at a good enough rate, I see little reason why selling is good.
This is mainly for a house you live in, not investment property (sorry, should have clarified that).  So unless you like moving, selling is probably not a good option (since you're going to have to buy around the same time anyway), or you feel like renting or whatever.

Can imagine housing in the US to be rather interesting right now.

Yes....
Oh, I never knew. I'm also Aussie.
Yeah, the prices are crazy. There was recent news that it was because a lot of international people coming over and just buying out the properties and leaving them empty for years without tenants. When I say recent I'm referring to like 10 to 20 years ago and probably more.
Why not?  With prices rising as they are, it's good investment...

Yeah, did get on the news a few days back - especially the debt thing, with 90% of personal debt being mortgages...
