But I was fine not using any AV for like 1+yr, so I'm not too worried either way.

true, but linux fanboys are usually the most well educated, as you don't even find out about linux without at least one other operating system lol. (plus, compiling your own kernel and knowing your usage well enough to set up new partitions for /, /home, /etc, /var, etc... is a little beyond most other computer users)

I know things about all three of the OSs...You may know about Linux a bit more than me but I can manage to use it without going "A..deeeeeeeeeeeeeerp."

Are anti-virus apps even _meant_ to detect that? After all, it really isn't a virus (unless it exploits some application).
Just because a particular suite of AV apps decides to use that as a test case, doesn't necessarily mean all AV apps will do the same.

yeah its just a 'known viral string'
like how it does huristic detection 'zomg this program has code that can smudge a file, it muzt be a viral!'
