“I just wanted to maintain the relationship for the sake of the children. He insisted on staying and he mentioned that he was not worried about sex any more. All he wanted (was) to see the children grow with both parents under one roof.”

However, her husband was apparently so desperate for sex that he concocted a scheme where he would secretly infect her with his own blood whilst she slept so that she would once again willing to sleep with him, and be unable to leave him.

Noticing only a mark on her leg, it was four months before she learnt she was infected, thanks to the results of a medical check-up:

“All he said [was] he was sorry. He said, ‘I used needles on you because I wanted you to be the same as me so that you can live with me and you won’t leave me’.”

Police soon suspected her infection came from the husband as she had repeatedly tested negative for the disease during a year-long abstinence from sex.

The man, who admits the offence, faces up to 14-years in prison on charges of willfully infecting another with a disease.

I've heard of people being charged with attempted murder and the like, for infecting another with HIV.  This asshole deserves so many more years than this... not to mention he should be forced to have all the sex his cell block partners want. How fitting would such a punishment be?

But seriously, this world is getting so screwed up. Society, please quit screwing everything that moves, and perhaps HIV wouldn't be that big a problem. Complete abstinence isn't necessary, but how about you just be with someone you truly care about? And if you make sure you are only with someone who you love, and if they love you.  Once you meet someone who truly clicks with you, who you know is going to make your life happy if you stay with, then marry them. Whether you believe in marriage or not, I think the advantages of tax write offs and ease of life would at least increase (at least in the US). Too many people are getting this wrong. They are screwing either everyone they find remotely attractive, or as a result of loss of inhibitions (sluts at bars). If they aren't doing that, then they are attempting at least semi-abstinence till marriage, but then go through 3 or 4 husbands/wives. All this leads to further propagation of STDs.

I'm truly losing all faith in humanity. Read any of my rants and you'll realize how annoyed I am at this world.  Now stupid people like this are starting to annoy me. Perhaps I should approach from another angle... I should expect nothing but spoon and stupidity from our race, and so I'll always be surprised when I see something productive, helpful, or intelligent come out of it.
