But if it's a good game, then it shouldn't hurt reputation - possibly just them admitting it's not popular in the west maybe.
Ofcourse, this case is quite different, but I highly doubt the true reason is a purely financial one. I guess it could be also because of bureaucratic reasons (bad sales might be viewed as a failed project to the company heads and/or shareholders, dunno).
