I was thinking... All the newer games require 5.55, 6.00, 6.10 etc. But if I'd put in LBP for example and try to play it... Would the version.txt trick work?

Would it be possible for me to bypass the limit there, or is there no other way but to rip the game to memstick and decrypt?

By the way, it's all theoretical speaking. I don't really own any UMD's, but I'm thinking about buying one of the newer games that I play a whole often, so I can use my awsum memsticks for other games and videos :)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't 5.50 GEN-D2 have some way of playing newer games that require newer firmwares?
Well yes. But my Slim is a TA-88v3 and I'm stuck on CFWe 3.60.
Go to 5.03...They've added compatibility.

what? I am on 5.03. I said I'm using Custom Firmware Enabler.... Sigh
Update to the newest release then. It has the same compatibility as 5.50 GEN-D2 except for a couple of games. LBP should work, though according to SchmilK.
Well, Custom firmware enabler and GEN aren't the same. I'm not sure but it's a high risk that if I try to install GEN I will mess up my PSP, so neither GEN or CFWe will work.

I read on another forum, nor this or cspot, that a guy with a TA-88v3 tried to uninstall CFWe to install GEN afterwards and messed up PSP. I'm not too sure about whether I want to take that risk or not. :-/

You need to use 5.03genB..that has all the patch features of 5.50genD2 where you can play any umd that needs 5.50 or greater :)
Facepalm

I meant update to the newest 5.03 GEN release. You don't need to use CFE for that.
Joomla, yes I understood that. But I'm afraid I'll fudge up my PSP during the uninstall of CFWe or during GEN install.
