I use to frequent the scene alot back in the xbox years. sorta loss interest after a good while. but now i am wondering about the ps3
I would love the ps3 to be hacked, but not for games but to enable a better media system then it is already.
that being said has there been any way to get .mkv playing on it yet (preferable h264) and since h264 mp4 don't play nor the same in an avi container, the same question goes for them also.

H.264 in MP4 may play depending on if they're encoded with PS3 compatible settings or not. As for the MKVs, you can trying muxing into MP4, if it doesn't play, well, bad luck (wrong settings again) and re-encode it.

The ps3 be hacked would bring alot great of possibilities, but one of the main reasons I don't want it hacked is all the cheaters there would be online.
Cheaters on the psp has pretty much killed the online play, I used to play Resistance Retribution alot until cheaters took over.
I haven't played it in awhile so maybe it's changed but I doubt it.
anyways I doubt the ps3 will be hacked anytime soon, if ever.

hacking = piracy
piracy = less games at higher prices
no reason to hack it..ps2's "sole reason" for being hacked was to install linux *cough* *cough* sony has fixed that request by allowing "other os" to be installed natively.
cwcheat type system could completely destroy all the fun the ps3 currently gives with online play! Every other game system has been exploited to death..if you realy want to pirate games get one of those. If you realy want to have a good time and enjoy your games, get a ps3.
Have you tried streaming mk4 from windows computer using tversity or windows media center?
