I generally use level 9, but have heard, a long time ago, that apparently some games lag a little on the maximum compression ratio.
Have tried to do a search but can't find anything about zlib decompression speed, especially in regards to different compression levels.
Are there many games that don't work too well on level 9?
Anyway, do you usually use level 9?
I often use level 9. The only games that I've experienced a slow down in were the GTA games. (I assume because the cities are loaded "as you go" and not beforehand...) Otherwise, all my games usually run at full speed.
^^^ that.
only slow downs I've ever noticed are in GTA:LSC and VSC.
I usually leave ISOs in the condition I get them in, i.e. I don't usually compress/decompress anything.
^ Does setting a lower compression ratio help with GTA? I was somewhat under the impression that zlib decompression should be the same speed regardless of compression level (it might be faster if you disable the dictionary coder during compression, but this isn't controlled via the compression level).
Thanks.
I do know that playing the two as straight ISOs made them run at full speed. I never tried with a lower compression level, though.
yea i usually use level 9(default)

that. Never tried them (or anything, really) at a lower level.
I generally use 9.
But I recently found that using something like 6 doesn't really significantly reduce compression at all (pretty much still the same size).
9
only game that ever did lag for me was gta 3 LCS & astroboy
(astroboy was a chocolatety game anyway)
i use level 9 as default, the only game lag on me that i tried is GOW!
