Actually there is a plugin that allows you to video capture to a .gif file on PSP 
It's called SVCapture, and I have added to the first post :D

There is a program, .gif to .avi converter ;)
Of course there is no sound for .gif files. But this is still handy to show off a new theme, or what not...

i found the hud ver 2.2 plugin works fine on GEN
add that, its a very useful plugin :D it gives a heads up display of things like your battery the time, CPU etc also allow you to take screenshots

well Adhoc File Transfer 0.7 still works for GEN, and i still can transfer files in any cfw, and i can pirate stuffs from other psp, lol
