Hi,
Not been here for a while due to the fact I don't use my PSP when I am in London... How is ever1?

I am going traveling for a little while.

Anyway what I need is 2 different types of software..  The first is I need to encrypt a small file and leave it on the internet.  My email account will be fine for that..

reason is if I loes something like flight details it will help me sort out a problem..

If I am right I have to use the same program to de-crypt the file.  This will need to be keeped with the file that is encrypted so it needs to be small (I think).  Free is always good.. :)

The 2nd is also inportant, I will also have my laptop which I will use for connection(I hope).  Is there a program which will stop any1 from picking up the signal with say BT4???  I know little about this subject but I know it can be done... I have tested my own system..

Maybe I should of asked in 2 different threads??? anyway thanks for anyhelp..
:)
OK. Question 1 can be answered with this: TrueCrypt

Question 2 however... What exactly do you mean? You want the WiFi signal between your laptop and the router to be encrypted? If so then that's easy enough in most cases. The router needs to be set up to encrypt it's WiFi with either WPA or WPA2. (Don't bother with WEP because it's easily crackable.) Assign the network a key to allow access. Your laptop should pick up the network and will prompt you for the key to the network. Enter it and voila!

However if you're using a hotspot to access the internet it gets a lot more difficult. Almost all public networks have no encryption at all. If you're that paranoid try and access your email account from a secure website. ("https://" at the start of the address.) To be honest though I don't think it's that much of a problem. The file you're uploading/downloading will be encrypted anyway. The chances thet you'l be sniffed are minimal. Hackers tend not to bother with the average internet user. They're motivated by profit and so they go for the big companies most of the time.
how r u going pspkiller..? thanks for the reply..  I looking a Truecrypt.  Think it is more then I need but won't it anyway.  Looks good.

I just need a .doc file encrypted.  Will just have inportant bank details etc etc.. if i need them..   Want to encrypt because I will be in and out of internet cafes, login in & out.  I am around travelers a lot and u will be shocked how many leave there emails accounts open.

As for the wifi===> been thinking about it and don't think it will be a problem... Just need to be safe if i book hotels with the net using my card.... blah blah

I recommend 7-zip for encrypting - just use a password.  Compresses the file too.
If I recall right, TrueCrypt is more of a disk encryption solution, rather than a file based one.

If you're paranoid about WiFi on public access points, you can try to only use SSL/HTTPS websites (ensure that you don't get a security warning) or tunnel through a VPN/SSH if you're able to.
thanks for the links..  I have gone for the 7-zip... Can't send it to my email account as if is a .exe(I sure there is a way around it..) but i can DL it from there server anytime I want...quickly.

I am going to India which is why I am a little concerned...
What do you mean by "exe"?  You want your encrypted stuff to be an EXE?  If so, tick the SFX option in 7-zip when making your archive.
If you were referring to a packaged 7-zip, there's 7-zip Portable.
