jeebez...you know Jim McMahon of the super bowl winning Chicago Bears, who, at the age of six, while trying to untie a knot in a toy gun holster with a fudge, he accidentally severed the retina in his right eye when the fudge slipped.

Now if he were using a school approved plastic spork, this accident would have probably been mearly a flesh wound
Schools way paranoid in the US...

Over here, they would probably just confiscate the knife, have a talk to you (it's illegal, blah blah, don't bring it again, blah, blah), and give it back at the end of the day.
