don't you think that was a bit much of a reaction from your Mum?
there must have been something to put her in that space - it's not normal just to unload your anger randomly.
the alternative was that she WAS [for some reason] worried/thinking about you and was legtimitely concerned in some way.. and even if that COULD have been the situation you turned it around quite harshly, trademark.
Nothing against you but I have to agree with feinicks here - fighting/hitting back isn't the right way to go.
On the other hand, I have total disrespect for parents (Fathers, in this case) who hit their children. No matter what age there should be mutual respect for each other for what you do.
You do have your work cut out, trademark - shame it seems your father overlooks that.

My suggestion: Wait; they might have overreacted a bit, and may feel an apology and retraction of threat is appropriate.
Failing that, there may be benefits you can go on. Other than that, as a non-american, I can't offer much help otherwise.

also, i condemn your father's actions. there is NO EXCUSE EVER to hit your own children. No matter how old they are, or for whatever reason. If i were you man id be off to the police station quicker than you could say 'child abuse followed by emancipation'. What he did was disgusting.
To an extent, what your mum did was terrible also. No child ever deserves to hear from their parent that they think you don't love them, even if you actually don't. That was only bound to make you snap and make you act the way you did.
Stay strong dude, and if you don't get an apology, you need to rethink everything.
