I facepalm'd so hard.
Apple is not allowed to say anything is over priced.
Quote:The claws are out -- and from Apple, wouldn't you know! Phil Schiller, Apple's marketing VP main man, is calling out the PSP and the DS, handheld gadgets from Sony and Nintendo respectively, for being overpriced. And not being cool anymore. Kssshhh...
"When [DS and PSP] came out, they seemed so cool," said Shiller. "But once you play a game on the iPod touch, you think 'hey, these things aren't so cool any more..."
Wearing out that coolness factor isn't the only problem. "Wee're talking about 25, 30, 40 dollars a title. These kids can't afford those titles. Worse isn't the price, it's the buying experience." As opposed to their games -- all 21,178 of them, not to mention the up and coming hot titles such as Assassin's Creed II from Ubisoft and the music game Riddim Ribbon.
Apple's definitely making it known they're putting themselves in the handhelds race now, flat and square. Well, Sony and Ninty? What say you? With these points raised by Apple, making a comeback with "It's not really in the same league as us, hence it's not a competition" won't suffice, methinks.

ummmm... yeah, but the ipod touch still seems too much like a gimmick to me, whereas the psp is much more like a gaming system. plus, its apple. before complaining about price, why don't they take a look at their laptop prices and realize that its approx twice as expensive to get a macbook as it is to get a normal computer with similar specs
this is a pretty stupid thing for Apple to put forward..

i agree, they're not achieving anything by saying this.
imo, PSP = gaming system with serious, long and interesting games, DS - Family-aimed Light Games, iPod Touch - Tiny, forgettable games with no replay value
it is a terrible shame piracy has killed the PSP completely for developers. as it is geniunely the best platform, imo

at the rate the scene is at the moment, the PSPgo may very well boost software sales.. and with it all being Download based... all the stores are gonna be pissed off :/

ill be glad if the PSP Go! takes off, because i can still just as easily get games off of PSN for my Phat PSP. I may even some day get one for myself.
It's ironic, people sought to better the PSP by hacking it and adding more features, but the addition of piracy has made the PSP slowly lose games (apart from ones Sony make of course).

Though its the thought of being able to play so many great titles that makes people want to buy them to hack. ;p

i completly agree.
the i touch is something to play with every so often, but nothing to become comitted to. the games on the itouch can be amusing,(such as bubble pop) but in comparison to the psp, the psp has a much better games that can last longer, with in depth story lines.
the only thing the itouch does have it the addictivness that small mini games have, but it can't be compared to a psp
i wonder what is up with apple to make them get all upset like that.
