Second time for me to use the quick thread!!

Anyway my PS3 is pretty screwed up at the moment and it's disk reader is pretty fudgeed and I think the GPU may be over heating according to another thread that I posted about my PS3 problems.
I don't really use my PS3 that much I thought now is a better time to get this fixed.

Within the next 24 hours I am hoping to send in to Sony, might have to pay a bit of money to get it fixed because my warrenty is over it's date now.
But maybe it might be easier to trade it in for a Slim PS3 seeing as my current one still will turn one and just pretend I know nothing of it's problems. Any good trade deals in Australia?

Lastly maybe you guys can suggest me an alternative.
Thanks in advance.
does it not read blu-ray's & games or will it not read anything?

my ps3 won't read games or blu-ray's most of the time, but everything else works fine (ps2 games, cd's, dvd's)
I can get a game to read if I keep trying ALOT of times :(

anyways alot of people are telling me the blu-ray lens need to be cleaned, so I think I'm gonna take it apart clean the lens & dust out & hope for the best.
don't see any point sending it to sony to fix for $150 US, if it just needs cleaning (hell slims are only $299)

if cleaning it doesn't help then the blu-ray drive is probably bad & I can replace it myself (hopefully)
if I break it then I guess I'll get a slim

maybe give that a try if you want
I found a video to help ;)

Good luck man

Warning if you take apart your ps3 you will not be able to send it to sony!

It can read them fine but the reader will make disks dirty.

Yeah, I saw a Slim for $500 AUD.
And I'm not confident in my skills to take apart more complicated hardware.
Also I managed to find an unofficial repair shop in my area.

I'll just have to try not break it again.
Not that I really broke it, it just suddenly failed on me.
Well, that's that.
The repair service says the problem's in the main processor and he cannot fix it so it'll have to be up to Sony or I'll have to buy a Slim PS3.
