man my mate robbed them from a store with a fudging bat its on youtube somewhere i need to find it he is selling me one for 50 quid

my question is , how can it be illegal if you already own the games, i have about 40 ps2 games and since i already own them, can't i make backups to perserve the originals?? i have hd advance 3.0 and i save some of my games on the 120gb harddrive i have in the ps2, is that illegal as well??

I'd spent $80 on a ps2 and play all the backup ps2 games I want without having to disassemble anything.
