I asked this at -Hacks, but the help section over there is full of noobs helping other noobs, thus I got no legitimate responses.
Everytime I attempt to update my PSP, whether it be OFW, or CFW, I get a (FFFFFFFE) error, and a brick.
I've (obviously) reflashed 5.00M33 numerous times, and I've recreated my ID storage numerous times.
Am I stuck on 5.00M33 until a new DC?

What are you trying to update the PSP with exactly? Another OFW or 5.50 GEN?
it happens with anything that use the SCE updater. It happened months ago with 5.00M33, and 5.00OFW, now it happens with 6.00OFW, and 5.50GEN.
What exactly is the sequence? You try to start the EBOOT, it runs for a while, then displays the error? Or does it come up as soon as you try to run it?
I start it, accept all the spoon, it goes, and usually gets to between 89 and 94%, then it's like "blah blah blah error (FFFFFFFFE) Contact Technical Support blah."
then it just hangs there until I pull out the battery.
If Pandora wasn't around, I would have exploded Sony.
maybe the reasons are
- bad sce updater from bad source
- bad sectors in your memstick, trying to format may resolve problem
- problem related to idstorage, did you always regenerate automatically idstorage from dc?
did you also try to install the firmware using Hellcat recovery flasher, maybe from there installing firmware may work because Hellcat recovery flasher don't use the sce screen for installing firmware
- it happens with any SCE updater, 5.00M33, 5.00, 6.00, 5.50GEN.
- only thing I've had problems with. Never with games, ISOs, anything else, just this.
- I thought that was it too, but I've regenerated my ID storage at least three times.
- only happens with SCE updaters, Hellcat's and DC work just fine.

hmm, it also happens with me before, ive also try using different sce updaters, but i always get it with the sce servers
did you also try to format flash1 and reset settings before you update firmware?
wait, is your memstick is a class a (a.k.a fake) memstick or it is genuine? some folks around the net having FFFFFFFE errors because they install it in a fake memstick
Before I update, no, but I reflashed 5.00M33 twice today, which formats flash1.
